A BRAND new charity CD featuring a host of classical performers and composers has been produced in Malvern.
‘Hillsongs’ is the idea of local composers Paul Farrer and John Raine, and includes a mixture of brand new compositions and classics from the likes of Bach, Raff and - of course - Edward Elgar.
Mr Farrer, who is best known for composing the theme tunes for TV shows including The Weakest Link and Dancing on Ice, said: “We were amazed at how generous the music making community in Malvern have been in helping us put this project together.
“The high degree of talent we have in our town and the massive dedication of time and effort in making this album a reality has been wonderful to be a part of. To have world-class performers such as classical guitarist Gordon Giltrap offer his time and energy was really humbling.”
The album received a boost this week when it received the endorsement of Hilary Elgar, the famous composer’s grand-daughter.
All profits from the CD are going to the St James CE Primary School building fund, towards the provision of new classrooms and hall facilities at the West Malvern school.
Hillsongs is available at Malvern Tourist Information, in Church Street, and Beacon Books in Belle Vue Terrace.
