POPULAR actress Patricia Routledge will present the St Richard’s Hospice 25th anniversary concert being held at Worcester Cathedral on Friday, September 25.
Also the hospice’s patron, she is known to millions as the redoubtable Hyacinth Bucket from the sitcom Keeping Up Appearances and as the elderly TV sleuth Hetty Wainthrop.
Twenty years ago in 1989 Patricia performed a one-woman show at Huntingdon Hall in aid of an early appeal for the hospice and has followed its development ever since.
The evening concert will include a range of talented local musicians and singers. Guest performers include the Worcester Male Voice Choir, the leading young violinist Shulah Oliver and songs from ‘Romany Wood’ sung by choirs from Hawford and St Mary’s Convent, narrated by David Carr and conducted by David Gaukroger.
Lianne-Marie Skriniar, soprano, and Richard Poyser, counter tenor, will sing Handel and there will be a performance from the St Richard’s Hospice Singers.
Ian King and Friends will offer their own brand of folk fusion and Charlie Green, a young semi-finalist from the 2008 Britain’s Got Talent, will be among the performers.
St Richard’s chairman of governors John Bawden said:”This will be a splendid evening and a wonderful way to celebrate our 25 years of care. We hope our volunteers and supporters will join us for this special evening.”
Tickets cost £10, £12.50 and £15 with children 12 and under £5. They are available from Worcester Live box office at Huntingdon Hall in Crowngate, Worcester. For telephone bookings call 01905 611427.
