ANDREW Wilson, the popular organist of Malvern Priory from 2000 to 2006, will return to gve an give an organ recital on Bank Holiday Monday, August 31, at noon.

Andrew, who left Malvern to become head of music at Milton Abbey School in Dorset in 2006, has just released a CD, recorded on the Priory organ earlier this year.

Out on Regent Records, the CD, called Let's Come To An Arrangement, contains transcriptions of popular orchestral, operatic and ballet music.

It includes Andrew's own arrangement on the Overture from Die Fledermaus by J Strauss, plus arrangements of works by Bach, Verdi, Holst and others.

Some of these, including excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, Holst’s Planets Suite and Saint-Saens’ Carnival of the Animals, will be included in the bank holiday recital.

As well as being the Priory organist, Andrew was the director of music at Worcester Royal Grammar School and conductor of Pershore Choral Society.

Admission to the recital is free, but there will be a retiring collection.
