FACE painting, balloon modelling and a bouncy castle all helped to add to the fun as youngsters from Malvern joined in national Playday with a special event at Victoria Park, in Malvern Link.
The event happened between 11am-3pm on Wednesday, August 5, and was organised by the play rangers and sports rangers from The Borrowers Toy Library, based in Barnards Green, in partnership with the Malvern Hills District Council and the Youth Support Service.
The theme of Playday this year was ‘Make Time’, a reflection on the fact that busy and hectic modern lifestyles mean children do not always get enough time to simply play.
Adrian Voce, the director of Play England, said: “Play is an essential part of every child’s life and is vital to their emotional and physical development. Research shows that, through play, children learn about themselves and the world around them, develop confidence, self-esteem and creativity.
“We’re asking for everyone to make play a priority for Playday 2009.”
Last year’s Playday event in Malvern was held in Priory Park and was a big success, attracting large crowds of visitors of all ages.
