A LEADING Tory MP visited a farm charity based in Powick yesterday (Thursday, March 12).
Andrew Mitchell MP, Shadow Secretary of State for International Development, visited the Farmers Overseas Action Group (FOAG) at Ridgeway Farm.
FOAG was founded by Worcestershire farmers in 1981 with a mission to aid social and economic development in Uganda’s rural communities.
Local Tory parliamentary candidate Harriett Baldwin said Mr Mitchell takes a deep interest in African development issues and has taken a team of volunteers to Rwanda for three years in a row.
She added: “FOAG is an inspiring example of social action from Worcestershire farmers. They have been able to transfer skills in a sustainable way to rural communities in Uganda.
“I hope that Mr Mitchell’s visit will help to publicise their remarkable work.”
