3:28pm Thursday 17th July 2008

AN ELDERLY male driver and female passenger had to be cut from their car after it rolled onto its roof in Moorlands Road, near to the Nags Head pub, this afternoon.

Firefighters received a call from the pub shortly before 3pm and cut both free from the yellow car.

Glyn Hawkins, who was there when the accident happened, said: "The car had been parked facing down the road, and seemed to be attempting a reverse turn.

"It went up the embankment and then the car just rolled over, it is really hard to understand how it happened. They were both upside-down in the car, and the passenger side started to collapse. The firefighters cut them both out."

Paramedics in a rapid response vehicle and two ambulances attended.

The man, believed to be in his 50s, suffered neck and leg and rib injuries, and the female passenger, also believed to be in her 50s, had pain in her neck.

Both were treated on the scene before being taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

Ambulance spokesman Susie Fothergill said both were very stable, and that their injuries were not life-threatening.

The air ambulance was sent for but was not needed.
