Spa to revive Malvern's 200 year tradtition

A LONG-awaited £7.5 million luxury spa, restaurant, hotel and health club development is in its final stages of completion.

Malvernspa, located on Grovewood Road, Malvern, is the first spa to open in the town since 1910, and was designed by local property developer, artist and designer John Williams.

It is set to revive the town's spa history, which dates back over 200 years.

The new spa, which will officially open its doors at the end of the month boasts a 20 metre indoor to outdoor hydrotherapy pool, filled with Malvern water, which has been historically recognised as The Water Cure'.

There are eight beauty treatment rooms, including an exclusive VIP suite, with private garden and hot tub, the UK's first contemporary herb sauna, a state-of-the-art fitness centre with specialist cardio equipment and resistance trainers, a fine dining restaurant featuring locally sourced organic food, and 33 en-suite boutique style hotel rooms, complete with luxury soft furnishings and plasma screen TV.

The new spa is set to significantly boost the local economy, with 80 new jobs already being created.

Guests will be able to revitalise the body and mind, relaxing, dining or working out against the stunning backdrop of the Malvern Hills, choosing from a wide range of treatments and therapies, and no expense has been spared to create an elegant and comfortable haven.

Jerusalem marble lines the spa floors, and 200 year old olive trees have been imported, and are prominent in the Grand Salon.

"I have developed an active interest in bringing the European spa and wellness philosophy to the UK," said Mr Williams, "Malvern is a beautiful town, and I wanted to create something that would be an asset to the local community, as well as being enjoyed by destination spa guests from around the UK, Europe and the rest of the world."

The new facility, which has been carefully planned and developed over the last seven years, is hoped to become one of the UKs leading spas when it is finally unveilled.
