AN independent local business has announced plans to move into bigger and better premises.

The Knitting Parlour will up sticks at the end of June and make the short move along Graham Road into the vacant shop formerly occupied by clothing business Chilled.

Joint owner Vicki Walker said the move would afford the business a great deal more space, allowing it to offer a greater range of yarn and also a dedicated basement area for knitting and craft workshops.

"We are doing really well, so this is really an expansion fuelled by demand," she said. "We're obviously in quite a small shop at the moment, and there is a bigger demand nowadays to offer workshops and so on. This is an exciting move for us."

Mrs Walker hopes to open the new shop on Monday, June 30, and only plans to close for one day on the Saturday preceding that date.

She does not know what will replace the current Knitting Parlour.

"We've only just given our notice so it has not been advertised yet, but I'm sure it will go quite quickly," she said. "I'm hoping that it will go to another small independent. That is the kind of shop that we need in Malvern."
