A RIDE-on mower worth £7,000 was stolen from Leigh Sinton between 8pm on Tuesday, April 29, and 3pm the next day.

The grey Stiga Park-Pro mower with a 42-inch cut and a Briggs and Stratton engine was driven across two fields and through cut fences before being loaded into a vehicle.

Police hope witnesses saw a van or low-sided vehicle being driven from a field onto the Hereford-Ledbury road near Leigh Sinton between the given times.

Anyone who saw this happening, or who has seen the mower, is asked to contact police on 08457 444888, quoting 357S/300408, or anonymously on 0800 555111.

I am wondering. Does this story and the ground braking top notch cutting edge rollercoaster ride of a story published in the same paper under the headline "First cut due for commons grass." have something in "common." Pun unintended.

I bet they do.
The headline should read "Crime committed. Police baffled".
It could form the basis of a regular slot in the Gazette.
