SPRING Lane plastics firm LGG Charlesworth, which specialises in injection moulding, has bought Reading-based trade moulders Prime Plastics Moulding Limited (PPM).
The purchase is the latest in a series of acquisitions which has helped make Charlesworth a leading provider of plastic moulding solutions.
With more than 80 years of experience, the company is one of the world's oldest surviving injection moulding firms. It employs 50 people in Malvern.
It has gained a strong reputation for technical expertise in polymers across a broad range of markets, including the automotive, aerospace, medical and electronics industries.
The purchase is part of a strategic growth plan that began in 2005 when it bought Talisman Plastics, to establish a product base in the security seal industry.
Acquiring Semiplas UK in 2007 further enhanced the company's position in the market and the combined strengths of the new businesses led to the creation of Talisman Security Products.
PPM, the most recent company to join the group, has been a front runner in the plastic moulding industry for more than 20 years.
"This latest acquisition is an important development in the continuing growth of our trade moulding activity and will further strengthen LGG Charlesworth Ltd's overall technical capability," said managing director Graham Ward.
