MALVERN residents will be joined by Lib Dem parliamentary candidate Richard Burt for an action day about disposable plastic bags.
Veronica and Richard Edwards of Moorlands Road contacted Mr Burt because they were concerned about the effect on the environment of the bags.
Now they have got together to organise a day of action in Barnards Green to persuade traders and shoppers to stop using such bags.
Mr Burt has produced an information sheet on the benefits of re-useable bags, and will be joining Mr and Mrs Edwards at 10.30am on Saturday, February 2, on the car park at the corner of Barnards Green Road and Geraldine Road.
Mrs Edwards said: "I've been using re-usable cloth bags for many years. Disposable plastic bags end up in landfills and cause pollution."
Mr Burt said: "There is a really strong desire to do something about the menace of disposable plastic bags in Malvern. Local groups and individuals are already taking action, following in the footsteps of an increasing number of towns and cities that have now banished the plastic bag."
Anyone who wants to join the campaign will be welcome to attend.
