CHOOSING where to eat out in Malvern has just become a lot simpler thanks to a new star rating for food businesses.
Scores on the Doors', an initiative which has already proven successful in Gloucestershire and other parts of the country, gives an easy to understand star rating for restaurants and food businesses based on their hygiene and health and safety levels.
All food businesses within the Malvern Hills District have been thoroughly checked by the local Environmental Health Team and have been scored accordingly, the very poor at zero stars and the excellent at five stars.
Stephanie Ingram, commercial services for the district council, said: "We're really excited about Scores on the Doors as it will give residents and visitors to Malvern a more informed choice of where to eat."
The ratings are now live and can be found on www.malvernhills.gov.uk. All businesses will be issued with an official certificate which they can choose to display.
The highest rated businesses have been invited to an official launch on Monday, January 28 at Bank House, Bransford where they will receive their awards. Businesses that have not received high ratings are being offered support and advice from the local authority on how they can improve their score.
