THE bellringers of Bosbury will be among those ringing in the New Year.
Tower captain Frank Seabright says that in his memory, the ringing of peals has been a tradition at Bosbury Church for around three decades and it is probably older than that.
This year will be no exception.
Frank said: "It is a wonderful feeling, ringing an old year out and a new year in.
"On New Year's Eve we have a party for the ringers, and then we attend a watch service in the church, at 11.30pm."
Shortly before midnight, the ringers slip away to the free-standing tower where the chime for twelve is always sounded on the mighty tenor bell, which is the heaviest.
Bosbury Church's tower is one of just seven free-standing towers in the county. It was built during the thirteenth century.
