CHILDREN at Suckley Primary School reserved a very warm welcome for a special visitor from the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Fire Service.
Michelle James visited the school on Tuesday to teach children aged four-11 the importance of fire safety and skills such as how to make an emergency call.
The youngsters also got a close-up look at genuine firefighter uniforms, including boots and helmet, and had a turn operating the lights and siren of a fire service car.
Children also took part in various activities and role plays and were each given a special fire safety pack to take home with them.
The visit was part of a fire awareness morning at the school, which infant teacher Joanne Rogers hailed as a great success.
"The children really loved it and they were able to get hands-on, which is an excellent way of learning," she said. "They got an awful lot out of it, and now they all want to be firefighters."
