ORGANIZERS of Malvern Pubs Quiz League is calling on quiz fans to come forward and save it from extinction.
"The League has been in existence since 1986 but is threatened with extinction this year unless more teams are able to come forward," said Tim Swallow of the league.
The quiz is run in a league format over the winter months. Teams of five are required with the home team usually providing a person to read the questions.
"The evening is meant to be a bit of fun, an excuse for night out before the start of another working week. Depending on the number of teams entering, the season will probably last for some 20 odd weekends with Christmas and Easter off," he said.
"So come on! Get a few friends together, get your local landlord to let you use a corner of the pub every other Sunday and test your knowledge. Teams from all over the district are welcome."
The league is holding its registration evening on Sunday, September 16, at the Cross Keys, Belmont Road. Registration will cost £20 per team and each player pays 60p per game. All proceeds go to paying the professional question setters and running the League For more information, call league secretary Nigel Barrett on 01684 573642.
