COLWALL Cricket Club has installed a defibrillator at its pavilion in memory of a member who died following a cardiac arrest.

The life-saving device was donated by the club's midweek friendly XI, the Colwall League of Gentlemen, in memory of John Sangster who was a member for 30 years.

The defibrillator was unveiled by Mr Sangster's partner Caroline Wigley and daughter Victoria Sangster during an evening of entertainment at the club in Stowe Lane.

The club sought advice from Heartstart Malvern on which machine to purchase, and took advantage of one of its training sessions.

With so many defibrillators located around the Malvern Hills area, Heartstart Malvern is encouraging as many people as possible to attend a training session on simple resuscitation and how to use a defibrillator.

The sessions, which are completely free, are suitable for anyone aged 10 years and over and last 90 minutes.

To book a place on one of the training sessions, the next scheduled for September 25, or to arrange for Heartstart Malvern to visit your group, contact heartstartmalvern.org.uk or 01684 342999.
