MALVERN College was named one of the best independent schools in England in a recent survey.
The school was ranked in the top five co-educational independent schools in the survey conducted by The Times newspaper.
The Times rated the college fifth in the country, based on the number of UCAS points per pupil, which universities take into consideration when offering places.
Malvern College gives pupils the choice between A levels and the International Baccalaureate or IB.
The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service(UCAS) gives A-level grades a points value, 120 points for an A grade, 100 for a B grade and so on. The IB UCAS scores range from 270 points to a top mark of 786, the equivalent of six A-level A grades.
The average number of points per pupil at Malvern College this year was 461.4, the equivalent of achieving an average of 3.8 A-level A grades.
Acting head Sarah Welch said: "This demonstrates the breadth of our pupils' academic achievement as well as their ability in individual subjects. I am deleighted their success at Malvern is a passport to top university courses.
She said the college was delighted to be welcoming 604 pupils at the start of this Autumn Term.
