MALVERN Town are back on the quest for West Midlands League points on Saturday at home to Herefordshire side Wellington (3pm).

Town overcame higher-ranked Boldmere St Michaels on Tuesday 3-2 in their FA Cup extra preliminary round replay.

But it is now time to focus on adding to the 3-0 opening-day victory over Pershore Town in the Premier Division.

“Tuesday was amazing and it’s great to be through to the next round of the FA Cup,” said co-manager Dene Whittal-Williams.

“But now we have important league business to concentrate on.

“We have to ensure we go into Saturday’s game with the right attitude and focus on getting the three points.

“Our opponents will be looking for a response having lost both of their league games so far but it’s about what we do.

"If we can reach the levels that we did on Tuesday in terms of energy, endeavour and the way in which we attacked then we will give ourselves every chance of getting the desired result.

“The lads have taken a lot of confidence from the way they performed over two games against higher-level opposition.

“One of our team values is about aspiration. We want to be playing at a higher level and the games against Boldmere have proved what we are capable of. It’s about doing it on a consistent basis.”

On the cup win, Whittal-Williams added: “It was amazing.

"It literally was a game of two halves.

“We gave the lads some stick at half-time because we weren’t showing enough passion and endeavour for each other.

“To their credit, the lads came out for the second half and showed much more energy. We broke well and scored three good goals.

“It’s great to be in the hat now for the next round and we’ll look forward to being at home.

"The support we have received over these two games has been immense and we can’t thank them enough.

“The club has not had the best of times in this competition over the years but it is great we are through and now we look forward to another big occasion in a couple of weeks time.”

The preliminary round pits Malvern against Racing Club Warwick at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium on Saturday, August 25 (3pm).
