A VANDAL has been caught on camera throwing a ‘football-sized’ stone through a car window.

Nick Kay said the vandal had caused over £2,000 worth of damage to his girlfriend’s car, which was parked in Somers Park Avenue, Malvern.

Mr Kay, of Upper Howsell Road, Malvern, has shared CCTV footage of the vandalism on Facebook in the hope of tracking down the man responsible.

In the video, the vandal can be seen lobbing a stone at the Volkswagen Passat, falling over and then throwing it at the car again.

Mr Kay, the sales manager at Cathedral Kitchens, in Albert Park Road, Malvern, said: “I’m galled about the whole thing. My girlfriend feels victimised.

“He picked up a bit of Malvern stone - about the size of a football - off the top of the wall.

“He then threw that stone double-handed against the car and at the moment he threw it he turned and ran.

“He fell over, got back up, walked back to the car and picked it [the stone] up again and threw it again.

“I think he was drunk. I think this is someone who uses this as a road home from the pub.”

Mr Kay said the vandal broke the driver’s side front window of the car and damaged a front windscreen pillar.

He added: “He nearly wrote the car off.”

His girlfriend, aged 43, now faces paying a £300 insurance excess as a result of the vandalism.

Mr Kay thinks there is a problem with cars being damaged along Somers Park Avenue.

He said: “No one I know will park their car here.

“At one point they were climbing on the top of our van and using it as a slide, sliding down the windscreen.”

A video of the vandalism, uploaded to the Cathedral Kitchens Facebook page, has been shared over 80 times and received more than 5,000 views. he vandalism took place at around 1.03am on Sunday, June 17.
