A PETITION to save allotments in Upton had attracted over 100 signatures so far.
The petition was started by Nick West, who has been cultivating his plot on the site off Rectory Road for around ten years.
Upton Town Council wants to take the land to provide an extension to the adjacent cemetery.
Mr West says that he plans to present the petition to the council at its meeting on Tuesday, July 19.
He said: "I've got 114 signatures so far, which is pretty good, but I'd like to get 200 if possible, so I might put the petition back into the shops before the meeting to see if I can reach 200."
The petition had been place in the town's two newsagents, Haywards and the Spar.
The town council says the additional land will provide space for more than 50 years of burials.
