THIS years' Upton Folk festival is set to be the best yet, say organisers.

The programme for the festival, over the May Day bank holiday weekend, includes 57 artists, 58 Morris sides and a variety of other entertainers.

They will be appearing at street dances, concerts in the parish church and in the Star pub, and ceilidhs in the Memorial Hall.

As in previous years, the streets near the waterfront will be closed and alive with dancing and other free entertainment throughout the weekend, as well as a thriving market.

There will also be a series of competitions, including acoustic singing, song writing and clog dancing. And the Morris procession at noon on Sunday this year will include members of the Sealed Knot in costume.

The pubs around the town centre will also be alive with music and singing sessions.

The festival runs from Friday, May 4, until Monday, May 7, and tickets for concerts and camping on the nearby sports field can be obtained from the Upton Tourist Information Office on 01684 594200 or info@visitthemalverns.org. Full information including artists and ticket prices is available at uptonfolk.org.
