A WOMAN has died following a crash between a car and lorry on the M5 this morning.

The crash, around a mile before Frankley services, was the first of two separate incidents on the M5, causing traffic delays for those commuting in and around Worcestershire.

On arriving at the scene between junctions four and three, following the crash at 4.24am, ambulance crews found a woman in the car in cardiac arrest.

“Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene," a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said.

“The lorry driver, a man, was uninjured in the incident and discharged at the scene,” he continued.

One ambulance was sent to the scene, carrying a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor.

The other incident this morning saw three vehicles involved in a crash near Droitwich.

Traffic was held from 5.40am to 6.20am following the collision on the M5 southbound between junction 4A and junction 5, to allow an ambulance through to the scene.
