THOUSANDS of visitors flocked to the Three Counties Showground for the sell-out CountryTastic show, which this year had the theme of sheep farming.

The one-day show on Thursday, hosted by the BBC Countryfile presenter Adam Henson, took place one one of the finest days of the year so far, with the sun shining down on the showground below the Malvern Hills.

Diana Walton, head of shows, said: “It’s been an absolutely glorious day at yet another sold-out CountryTastic. The showground has been filled with sunshine, flocks of all the farmyard favourites and families eager to get stuck in with the exciting and educational activities.

“We’d like to say a huge thank you to the overwhelming number of visitors who joined us again this year to make CountryTastic another roaring success.

“Each year we seek to inspire and engage the next generation of budding farmers and we hope to see many of today’s visitors again very soon.

Hordes of families gathered to listen to Adam Henson and other top farmers share their farming wisdom in the Ask the Farmer Classroom and youngsters had the chance to quiz the experts on all things to do with sheep.

The Sheep Show entertained and educated children on all the different breeds of sheep, demonstrating exactly how sheep wool is transformed into a jumper.

Visitors were also wowed as the sheep got to strut their stuff in the grand finale Sheep Show Hustle.

The Museum of Carpet provided plenty of hands-on fun for children as they were given the chance to spin wool into yarn and even have a go at weaving yarn into cloth on a loom.

Families were able to travel round the showground in style as the much-loved tractor and trailer rides made a return, and children got to meet all their farmyard favourites. including sheep, goats and pigs.

Visitors watched in amazement as pigs trotted across the course in the British Pig Association Junior Club Pig Agility demonstrations whilst the ever-popular Wag and Bone Ring played home to the Mid-Western Gundog Display team who were on hand to tell youngsters everything there is to know about their favourite dogs.

Junkfish hosted a range of activities for children including crafts, hula hooping and painting over in the Play Barn. Little ones even got the chance to get behind the wheel as they whizzed around the barn on pedal tractors.

Preparations are now under way for the next event, the RHS Malvern Spring Festival on May 10-13.
