A MALVERN Freemasons' lodge has presented £240 being presented recently to Dyson Perrins Church of England Academy to support its special autism unit.

The money was raised by Royds Lodge of Freemasons, which meets in the Masonic Hall on Belle Vue Terrace.

Tony O’Donnell, the current worshipful master of the lodge, said: "Malvern is so fortunate to have such a great autism unit at Dysons. They are helping the young people in their care to overcome their condition and reach their full potential. Literally they are changing their lives for the better.

"The staff at the unit told us they can never have enough pencils, pens, paper and materials so we were happy to raise something as quickly as we could to help with this."

Freemasonry is the second biggest raiser of charity donations in the UK, after the National Lottery. The money they raise goes to a variety of local, national and international charities.

Royds Lodge of Malvern Freemasons intend to support the work of the Dysons Autism Unit with further fundraising over the next few years.
