MALVERN TOWN 2, AFC TELFORD 3

MALVERN Town started very lively in this friendly on Thursday night and in the opening minutes Ed Lyons fired just wide of the post.

He opened the scoring in the 15th minute when he received another through ball and turned the defender before he slotted the ball home.

Lewis Skyers in the Malvern goal was called upon and in the space of ten minutes made three good saves, one he touched over the bar and the other two he parried out.

In the 35th minutes another flowing move between Ed Lyons and Daniel Harding-Hall saw the latter shoot wide and then Bryan Craven had a good shot saved. Malvern piled on the pressure and five minutes later the Telford keeper dropped the ball and Joel Skyers was the quickest to it but fired against the cross bar. Daniel Harding-Hall was played in again in the 43rd minute but the keeper saved well.

However, just before the break Telford's Cornes hit a tremendous 30 yards cross/shot which although Lewis Skyers got a hand to it he could not keep out and Telford went in an half-time with a rather fortunate 1-1 scoreline.

After the break, Telford came out with more purpose and Lewis Skyers needed to pull off a point blank save in the 55th minute. Five minutes later, John Adams cleverly chipped Skyers in give Telford the lead.

Malvern's youngsters continued to battle and in the 70th minute Daniel Harding-Hall was played through and he lifted the ball over the Telford keeper to get the equaliser.

In the 77th minute Telford were awarded a free-kick on the left hand edge of the penalty area, just out from the by-line. Fitzpatrick placed the ball and quickly took the kick which flew into the far corner of the net catching Malvern by surprise to notch the winner.

malvern put in a fine performance against higher-graded opposition and manager Paul Molloy was very pleased with the way the youngsters handled themselves and played together as a team.
