BRAIN injury charity Headway is bidding for a share of Tesco's Bags of Help fund to revamp the garden area at its Rednal rehabilitation centre.
Headway has already been shortlisted to receive one of the grants, of up to £4,000, and is urging shoppers to visit their nearest store and vote using the token awarded at check-outs with every purchase.
Sue Tyler, CEO at Headway Birmingham & Solihull, said: "We have a small courtyard we use as a sensory garden, a paved patio area used for outdoor education sessions and sports activities, and a more traditional garden with a greenhouse and poly-tunnel used for gardening club.
“Any proceeds raised through the Tesco Bags of Help scheme will go towards refreshing these facilities, ensuring our brain-injured clients can continue to enjoy them.”
The Bags of Help grants are funded through carrier bag sales and are awarded to local community projects.
Alec Brown, head of community at Tesco, said: “We are absolutely delighted to open the voting for January and February.
"There are some fantastic projects on the shortlists and we can’t wait to see these come to life in hundreds of communities.”
