WORKS to improve security at a Bromsgrove car park will take place next week, with some disruption expected.

Contractors will be on site at Churchfields Multi-Storey Car Park on Tuesday, January 16 and Wednesday, January 17, upgrading the security of the main access point and automatic doors.

The new fire rated doors are expected to improve the automatic door function, making them more secure.

Contractors will also be fitting a new door locking mechanism linked to the ire alarm system to improve the security of the stairwells and main building.

Bromsgrove District Council is warning car park users, particularly Shopmobility customers, that the works may cause some disruption.

There will be a limited Shopmobility service during this two-day period, with only a small number of scooters available on a first come, first served basis.

Anyone wishing to use the service on these days is advised to park outside the Shopmobility office, where a staff member will come to them.

Judith Willis, head of community services, said: "We apologise for any disruption caused to car park users during this time and hope to get the works completed as quickly and efficiently as possible.

"We apologise that there will be a reduced Shopmobility Service during this time and hope to make this as hassle free as possible for service users.

"The old doors to the car park are in parts badly damaged through wear and tear as well as misuse, so the new doors will improve the safety and security of the car park benefitting all of our users.”
