FAMILY members will be able to remember their loved ones by pinning names to a special memorial tree this Christmas.

Upton in Bloom is holding another memorial tree this year, with the lights being switched on in the third week of December.

Jackie Surtees, head of Upton in Bloom, said: "We are ask for £5 per name.

"I make a list of all the names and attach them to the tree trunk [outside the Pepperpot].

"There are forms in the laundrette in New Street. There will also be a form in December's Upton News."

The group is also selling two hampers, which include turkeys, to help to fund its voluntary horticulture work in the town.

Raffle tickets for one of the hampers will be sold outside Henry's cafe on Saturday, December 11, and Saturday, December 18, with the winner being drawn on the latter date.

Ye Olde Anchor Inn will also be raffling off a hamper for Upton in Bloom and tickets should be available inside the pub.

The winner of the raffle is set to be announced on Christmas Eve, coinciding with the town's annual hunt meet.

Councillors are also organising a Christmas dinner for local pensioners.
