ORGANISERS of the Mapp Fest music event have handed over more than £5,600 to three local charities.

This year's event, held on Malvern Link Common on June 17 and 18, was the biggest ever, with hundreds of people turning out to enjoy music from more than 40 bands and performers under a blazing sun.

No entry fee is charged at the event, but collections were taken during the weekend.

Now organiser Andy Mapp has handed over £2,530 each to Acorns Children's Hospice and St Richard's Hospice and £562 to Community Action Malvern and District.

He said: "It's another great result. Mapp Fest owes its success to all the volunteers who make it happen and once again I would like to thank them all."

Organiser have also announced that next year's event has bee fixed for the weekend of June 16 and 17.
