MALVERN Hills residents are being urged to tell the district council what their priorities should be in the coming years.

The council is currently reviewing its five-year plan and has launched a consultation to find out what the public would like to see it focus.

The plan runs until 2021 and sets out how the council will deliver its three priorities - building stronger and healthier communities, driving economic growth and prosperity, and making the most of the environment.

Residents are being asked to complete a short survey on three things they think the council should be doing more of and three things it should be doing less of.

The list includes delivering affordable housing, improving people’s health, developing the skills of young people, improving parks and open spaces and making the district an even better place to visit. Residents can also make their own suggestions.

Special workshops are also being held on Tuesday, September 26, and Tuesday, October 3,to give residents the chance to discuss their priorities with officers and councillors.

The plan was launched in April 2016 and in its first year, 30 actions have already been completed or are well progressed.

They include delivering 95 affordable new homes, supporting more than 100 businesses to grow, inspected 42km of watercourses to help reduce the impact of flooding, and launching a revamped tourism website and walking app.

Cllr Jeremy Owenson, portfolio holder for community engagement, said: “Our current five-year plan actions are progressing really well but it’s important we continue to talk to residents and ensure we are focusing our resources on those areas that matter most to them.

“This is a chance for people to directly influence what we do and let us know what we should be doing more of, or less of, and I’d urge residents to get involved."

The survey can be completed online at smartsurvey.co.uk/s/fiveryearplan2017 before Sunday, September 24. To get a hard copy or book a place on one of the workshops, contact Claire Vaughan on 01684 862449.
