COLWALL author and illustrator Sean Prentice will be launching his first book, The Daddy, at Malvern Book Cooperative next Saturday, August 19.
Sean will be reading from his book at 11am, followed by a chance for members of the public to talk to him about his writing and artwork.
Told from a father’s perspective, The Daddy is a gentle and humorous bedtime story for fathers everywhere. It provides a tongue-in-cheek answer to a seldom-asked question: where do daddies come from?
He said: “Being a father myself, I realised that there weren’t many books written specifically for dads to read to their children. I wanted a book I could read to my daughter that told the dad’s story, and so I came up with the idea for The Daddy.
“I've always had a passion for painting and writing, and to see my idea brought to life in the form of a picture book is one of the highlights of my career.”
Mr Prentice was born and raised in Northamptonshire and studied sculpture at the University of Brighton before discovering he preferred to draw and write. He lives in rural Herefordshire with his partner Layla and daughter Seraphina, some cats and a few chickens.
The Daddy is published by Hogs Back Books in paperback, price £6.99.
