MALVERN Hills residents are being urged to nominate their litter grot spots as a community litter squad prepares to clean up areas in need of some tidying.

The litter pick, taking place in September, follows on from the success of the Great British Spring Clean campaign earlier in the year, where more than 30 bags of rubbish were filled.

The district council will be sending out litter squad, made up of residents, staff and councillors, to tackle nominated grot spot areas identified by local residents.

Equipment is also available to loan to local community groups who would like to conduct their own litter picks. Anyone interested should contact engagement@malvernhills.gov.uk.

Cllr Bronwen Behan said: “After the success of the community litter picking efforts back in March we have been overwhelmed by volunteers coming forward to take part in our future litter picks.

“We want to preserve our beautiful green spaces and encourage communities to work together and help make a positive impact on the environment, which we all feel is so important.”

To nominate a grot spot, or join the community litter squad contact engagement@malvernhills.gov.uk or tweet @MalvernHills_DC by Monday 21 August.
