ONE of Malvern’s town centre pubs has opened its doors again after a major refurbishment.

The Unicorn, Belle Vue Terrace, is holding a special event tomorrow (Saturday) to mark the occasion and all are welcome to meet new landlord Russell Thomas and the team.

The pub is thought to be one of the oldest buildings in the town centre after the Priory and Abbey Archway, and was the meeting place of authors C S Lewis and J R R Tolkien when they visited Malvern.

Mr Thomas, who comes from Cardiff and has been in the hospitality industry for many years, running bars and clubs as well as DJ-ing, said: “The refurbishment has been carried out to a very high standard. I think people will be quite interested to see how it has changed.”

His plans for the Unicorn include live music on Fridays and Saturdays, open mike sessions on Sundays, and other attractions.
