THUNDERSTORMS may hit the city tomorrow night as weather experts warn of potential flooding.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, which will affect large parts of southern England, including Worcester, on Tuesday evening.

And Malvern weather expert Frank Hill is also braced for storms to hit the county.

Mr Hill said: “I think it is quite likely we will see storms.

“We have temperatures up to 27C and 28C during the day, I think we will have a storm on Tuesday. We will have a wet evening and night, followed by rain and it will be cooler on Wednesday.”

“Originally, the forecast said Wednesday and Thursday would be warmer but I think that will happen earlier in the week.

“After that it should feel little more fresh and cooler, but still in the 20s.

There is a chance of homes, businesses and roads being flooded and disruption to electricity networks.”

He added: “Worcestershire is probably the least thundery county in England.”

Thundery showers are expected to start on Tuesday night and thunderstorms will begin in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Stormy weather looks set to continue during Wednesday afternoon.

The Met Office has warned of the dangers posed by the expected lightning and hail.
