A MALVERN man will be attempting a 24-hour walk on the Malvern Hills in aid of the charity Breast Cancer Now.

Graham Skelton, aged 37, of Willow Grove, will be starting out at 10am on Sunday, July 2, and will finish at 10am the next day.

His route will be from North Hill to British Camp and back again, and he hopes to complete four or five circuits, totalling between 40 and 50 miles.

Mr Skelton, who works as a systems developer for Worcester-based charity AbilityNet, said: "I'm doing this because a few close friends and family members have had or are still dealing with breast cancer.

"My mother-in-law had it a few years ago, a close friend was diagnosed just over a year ago and has since been going through treatment for it and my wife recently had a scare which, thankfully, turned out to be negative."

"I am anticipating it will be quite a challenge as it's not only 24 hours non-stop,l with very short rest and toilet breaks allowed), but it's along the top of the hills so there's the added difficulty of the terrain to consider.

"I haven't managed as much training as I'd like but I walk around four miles every lunch time and have managed to walk the route I will be using a few times to get used to it."
