WELLAND Dog Show was once again a great success, say organisers, although numbers this year, with 59 dogs taking part, were slightly down on last year.

The show featured a wide selection of breeds, with participants coming from the West Midlands, Warwickshire, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire.

Judge Denise Gruszka, from Wiltshire, picked the best in show as Lexi, shown by Abigail Taylor from Dudley ,with Chris Stevens from Castlemorton and Ginny as reserve.

The champion gaining most points throughout the show was Shep, shown by Lyla Harris from Malvern, with Henry and Laura McKeon and Henry from Stratford-on-Avon as reserve.

The winners of each class received a voucher from Dog Games.

The Pirton Gun Dog Team headed by Debi Smith gave two demonstrations of their skill at retrieving and there was a scurry competition and a tunnel challenge.

Among the sponsors of the event were Masefield Vets, Pioneer Feeds, Whitehouse Vets and Avenue Vets of Malvern

Mary Roberts of the organisers said: "Our very grateful thanks go to everyone who helped and gave prizes to make the day so enjoyable."
