MALVERN'S Team Zulu has raised nearly £2,500 by walking the Worcestershire Way.

The nine-strong team of fundraisers set out from Bewdley at 5.50am on Friday, alongside some 137 other walkers.

And after a stop at Abberley where refreshments were provided by the village WI and lunch laid on by the Talbot, the team resumed their march and finished at the Red Lion, in Great Malvern, at 7.30pm.

Tarquin Shaw-Young of the group said: "It was as ever a hard challenge, but we hit our target of nearly £2,500 with Gift Aid and the money is still coming in.

"So a big thank-you to all our sponsors, and there is still time to donate at justgiving.com/Teamzulu1879."

Team Zulu was founded by Mr Shaw-Young as a tribute to the classic 1964 film. He and his friends dress up in period costume from the Zulu war to undertake their fundraising activities.

Every year, they walk the 34-mile route in a day for St Richard’s Hospice.
