AN air ambulance helicopter responded to a crash on the A38, near Upton.

Police, fire and ambulance crews went sent to the scene after two vehicles crashed on the road.

Firefighters freed an elderly passenger who was trapped in one of the vehicles.

An ambulance and an air ambulance were sent to the scene but the passenger was found to be uninjured.

The road was closed after the crash, which happened at about 11.46am today (June 15).

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "We received reports of a collision between two vehicles on the A38 near Upton.

"There are no reports of injuries.

"The road is still closed for recovery."

A spokesman from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "The call came through about 11.46am.

"A person was trapped but they have been released by fire service personnel.

"Firefighters from Pershore and Malvern were there and one crew from Tewkesbury.

"Two crews have now left."

UPDATE: The road is now passable, according to the police.
