MACHETES and 'large amounts' of cannabis have been seized in a drugs raid.

Thousands of pounds worth of cash was also found in Ramsons Close, Malvern on Tuesday morning.

An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled class B drug with intent to supply and is currently in police custody.

Officers forced entry to the house with police dogs called in to help the search and various pieces of drug equipment were also recovered.

Two huge machete knives were seized during the warrant.

Sergeant Brian Simpkins of West Mercia Police said: "Teams from A and D patrol shifts, along with Safer Neighbourhood Officers and colleagues from the dog section conducted the warrant, which resulted in a large amount of suspected cannabis, cash and various drug paraphernalia being seized, including two offensive weapons.

"This intelligence-led warrant is an example of how police in Malvern are dedicated to taking a positive stance on drug supply and stamping it out within the community.

"This has been a successful warrant that has resulted in a significant amount of suspected drugs and weapons being taken off the street and helping to keep our communities safe from the harm they cause."

Police in Malvern tweeted the raided in the early afternoon on Tuesday, with the hashtags #SaferMalvern and #YouSayWeDo with a picture of a man appearing to batter down the door of the house in Ramsons Close.
