RENOWNED guitarist Gordon Giltrap will be providing one of the musical highlights at this year's West Fest.

The annual music festival held on the playing field at West Malvern showcases a wide variety of top acts from the Malvern area and further afield

This year's event is on Saturday, July 1, and organisers are promising that it will be one of the best ever.

Paul White, one of the organising committee, said: "This year the show kicks off with two excellent bands, the Jivaholics from South Wales and Temple Lake all the way from Camden so make sure you don’t miss them.

"We’ll also be showcasing some of the best local bands before winding up the evening with Pershore’s Artiphunk to keep everyone dancing.

"The afternoon highlights include The White Feather Collective, a hugely popular Malvern-based band really destined to go places, plus world renowned guitar virtuoso Gordon Giltrap who never fails to put on a mesmerising performance."

Other acts include Set-em-up Joe, the Julie July Band, the Ray Mytton Band, the Truckstop Trixies, Sundara and Flatworld. All of these musicians are performing free of charge in support of West Fest’s charitable aims."

Mr White said: "The event is organised and run entirely by volunteers and all profits go to support local worthy causes, but West Fest isn’t just about raising money, it’s also about providing a great day out for both local people and visitors to the area.

"There’s plenty to keep families occupied too with a bouncy castle for the kids, a cycle track, Vo Fletcher’s Early Birds music and an Ugly Bug parade."

Alongside stalls showcasing local businesses and crafts, there is a well-stocked bar serving locally-produced beers and ciders, wine, Pimms, Prosecco and soft drinks.

And local caterers will be providing food ranging from speciality sausages to cakes and ice cream.

On-the-gate prices have been held for the third year running at adults £10, under-18s £6, and under-fives free with a family ticket costing £20. There is also a reduced rate for anyone arriving after 7pm.
