TRAVELLERS who camped on a Malvern park have been moved on after police said they were concerned about the impact on the wider community.
Around 15 caravans arrived at Victoria Park in Malvern Link on Thursday, June 8.
They left the park on Saturday, June 10 after police issued a section 61 notice.
The notice can be used by police to move a large unlawful encampment immediately if there are more than six vehicles.
It can also be used if travellers are suspected of damaging property or being abusive, but in all cases, only if the landowner has already asked them to leave.
After the travellers left, Kevin Purcell, Superintendent for South Worcestershire, tweeted: "A section 61 notice was issued due to the number of caravans and impact on the wider community."
Police had visited the park to talk to travellers with representatives of Malvern Hills District Council and Malvern Town Council on Friday morning.
