FIREFIGHTERS carried out a boat rescue in Kempsey and it is believed three youths have since been taken to hospital.

Five people were reported to be in the river Severn at Kempsey at 7.53pm yesterday.

A boat had to be deployed to rescue them although two managed to get to the bank.

The Worcester News understands that the five were youths and three were taken to hospital by ambulance although so far the West Midlands Ambulance Service has yet to confirm this.

The fire service has confirmed that boat crews from Worcester, Droitwich and Upton attended.
