THE new assistant chief constable for West Mercia Police has begun his work.

Martin Evans, who joined the police in 1987, has experience as head of the Central Motorway Policing Group (CMPG), head of local policing, head of serious and organised crime and as a director of intelligence.

He said: ""I am delighted to be joining West Mercia Police and Warwickshire Police as assistant chief constable with responsibility for local policing and I will be doing all that I can to ensure that we provide the best possible service that we can to our communities.

"I'm particularly excited to be joining at a time of significant investment in areas such as the development of our two new operations and communications centres and increasing our use of technology, such as mobile data devices and body worn video, which will help us to be more efficient and effective in the work that we do.

"I will be looking to ensure that we maximise the benefits that this investment brings."

Chief constable Anthony Bangham said: "I am delighted to welcome Martin back to West Mercia Police, and I know that he is looking forward to starting in his new post and delivering the service our communities deserve."
