GIRLS and staff at Malvern St James took to the hills to raise money for a local charity.

The school aims to raise £10,000 for the Malvern Special Families as part of its tenth anniversary celebrations.

450 girls and staff, dressed in neon and sporting brightly-coloured face paint, walked from the school in Avenue Road to the top of the Worcestershire Beacon and back.

Malvern Special Families’ community fundraiser Cassie Zoro said, “A great big thank you to everyone for the massive achievement of getting everyone up to the Beacon. We really enjoyed it, and it was great to be able to be there and congratulate people on making it to the top.”

Head Olivera Raraty said: “Everyone felt a real sense of achievement and enjoyed doing this as a whole school community. We’re so lucky to have the hills on our doorstep - what better place to go for a walk, and raise money for a good cause in the process.”
