A MOTHER is furious about 'druggies' dumping needles in a alley that she walks down with her children.

Charlie Wright, of Saddlers Walk, Worcester, was taking her three-month-old son to the doctors when she spotted the needles on Thursday, May 11.

The 22-year-old called on the council to clean up the path, which links Newtown Road, Worcester, with Somerville Road.

"The needle didn't even have a cap. I thought it was disgusting, if my baby picked that up I wouldn't know what to do," she said.

"Someone could have touched it and got a disease. I think it was used for drugs. There's always druggies in that alley.

"The council need to clear it up. There were two needles and lots of cans and bottles of beer. It's just dangerous."

She added that her mum's dog was also with her when she came across the needles.

"Kids or pets could be hurt it's scary what that needle could do," she said.

Ms Wright was taking her son, Owen, to the doctors after a rash appeared on his stomach.

She added that the trip could have ended far worse because of the danger posed by the needles.

Worcester City Council said they sent staff to clean up the needles on Friday, May 19.

A spokesman for the council added: "We acted quickly to make safe these needles once we received the report.

"If anyone has similar finds we would urge them to contact us as soon as possible at www.worcester.gov.uk/reportit or 01905 722233.”
