A WOMAN in her 30s was taken to hospital after an incident at a private address in Worcester.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, rushed to the scene in Northfield Street at about 6.30pm yesterday.

West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) took one woman to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital by land ambulance for treatment.

West Mercia Police also attended the incident.

An eyewitness said he saw two people being carried out of a house on stretchers.

Andrew Smith, of Wood Terrace, added that he also saw a woman being led out of the house.

“I saw two stretchers come out and a young girl came out arrested,” said the 27-year-old.

“The people on the stretchers had silver things over them – like body warmers.

“You only expect it to happen on TV, you don’t expect it to happen on your doorstep.”

Mr Smith, a forklift truck driver, added that an air ambulance landed in a nearby park next to the canal.

He said the air ambulance landed at approximately 7.05pm today (May 8) when there were lots of police officers at the scene.

But by 7.30pm it appeared that the police units had left Northfield Street.

A police spokesman said: "Officers were called to an address in Northfield Road in Worcester around 7pm last night after concerns for the safety of two women were raised.

"A woman in her 30’s was taken to hospital for treatment where her injuries are not thought to be life threatening."
