A FEAST of fun for all the family is promised for this weekend when Malvern hosts the St George's Heritage Festival.
The event, on Saturday, April 22, promises a day of entertainment in the town centre from 10am to 4pm, with activities and displays both at Malvern Library and in the grounds of Great Malvern Priory.
The library, on Graham Road, will be hosting a range of have-a-go activities, including PlanetArt arts and crafts, circus skills workshops by Wren Arts and Entertainment, and morris dancing by Old Meg Morris.
And at the priory, there will the the chance to travel back in time, with living history and reenactment by the Sealed Knot Society and Feudal’s Living History.
The Sealed Knot will be putting on arena displays at 1.30am and 2pm, and in between, Feudal’s Living History will be showing how to use a bow and arrow.
There will also be regular tours of the Malvern Museum in Abbey Road, with its displays showcasing the town's history.
And at 3pm, the Mayor of Malvern, Councillor Cynthia Palmer, will be hosting her civic service in Great Malvern Priory.
The service, with the theme Celebrating Malvern,. will be led by Rev John Barr, and will include musical performances from Malvern Hills District Brass Band and the Rock Choir, and will also feature the presentation of freedom of entry to the town to Malvern St John Ambulance in honour of their centenary year in 2016.
A parade for St John Ambulance will assemble at the Priory Gateway at about 2.40pm and will march to the Priory.
