A DRINK-driver who crashed into a parked car in the early hours of the morning has been banned from the road.

Carl Brazier, aged 42, of Bluebell Close, Malvern, admitted driving while over the limit when he appeared in front of Worcester magistrates.

Prosecutor Sarah Hurd told the court that a collision had occurred in Pound Bank Road, Malvern, at about 1.40am on Thursday, March 9 and that Brazier was the driver.

He was given a roadside test by police, who arrived on the scene, which proved positive.

A later test at the station showed 46 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, above the legal limit of 35mcg/100ml.

The court heard that Brazier had drunk two or three cans of cider at home before he drove to a nearby Spar shop.

On the way back his attention was briefly distracted and he crashed into the parked car.

He told the court: "I had been working very long hours and I'm sorry for what I did."

He was banned for a year and fined £200, plus £135 costs and £30 victim surcharge.
