WITH spring officially having begun, what could be better than visiting a golden display of daffodils?

And where better to do it than Madresfield Court, the country house on the edge of Malvern with so many historical and literary associations?

The court's gardens will be open for the annual Daffodil Sunday on March 19, when visitors will be able to wander through the grounds and feast their eyes on the floral displays.

Peter Hughes, agent for the Madresfield Estate said: "The daffodils are looking absolutely perfect at the moment and there are 65 acres of arboretum and formal gardens to walk around."

Opening hours are 2pm to 5pm, and admission is £5 for adults and children aged 11 or over, and free for younger children. Cream teas will be available and parking is free. The house itself is not open.

Proceeds from the open afternoon will go towards the upkeep of the churches at Madresfield and Guarlford, and to the village school at Madresfield.
