UNIVERSITY students are holding a debate on the rise of populism with politicians from across the political spectrum.
The event will involve Conservative councillor Marc Bayliss, Labour city councillor Matthew Lamb and UKIP MP candidate James Goad.
The debate is called 'The year of Trump' and will take place on Monday, March 20, in the University of Worcester's students' union.
Organisers hope the event will draw in up to 50 students and boost youth engagement in politics.
Nicolas Mahy, aged 24, is organising the debate and will also moderate it, as a committee member of the university's economic society.
"It will be a debate on the rise of populism, with the political climate in the US and the election in the Netherlands tomorrow," he said.
"We have the feeling it's very important to make students aware of the changing times. The main themes will be migration, jobs, the economy. the environment and the relationship with the media.
"The turnout for Brexit was really low. It's our future we are talking about, we have to be involved in every way. We need to address the arguments, in favour and against."
Mr Mahy is originally from Belgium but now lives in Blakefield Gardens, Worcester, and is studying a master's degree in International Management.
The free-entry event starts at 7.30pm and is being held at the students' union on the university's St John's campus.
The debate society, the economic society and the bright future society have organised the event.
